Vogezen

This summer I've discovered a couptle of hotspots in the Vogezen, France, about 450 km from Hasselt: In Xonrupt-longemer, the lake of Xonrupt, a magnificent lake, 73 acres big and very accessible. The lake is well managed by the local club (Président M. Hebert Torlotting, 8 chemin du joli bois, 88400 Gerardmer Tel. 00329631622)
You can fish from the borders of the lake. I caught some beautiful trout there (about 48 cm).
You can rent a boat for only 5 euros a day. You are allowed to bring your own boat or belly-boat.

Seven kilometres ahead is the lake of Gerardmer, 115 acres and managed by the same club. Besides trout the lake is stocked with carp, pike and an abundance of big coarse fish.

The two lakes are connected by the rivers Jamgne  and Vologne and are no kill. You can get a license for 12 euros a day and 33 euros for two weeks. These are available at the Tabac Losella centre ville de Xonrupt-Longemer, tel. 00329608861.

There are ample hotels and camping site in the immediate neigborhood of the lakes. I've made my mind up and will definetely return to this area. It's a flyfishers paradise!
